Happy Lamb Hot Pot, Houston/Facebook

HOUSTON — Sandwiched between China and Siberian Russia, Mongolian culinary culture offers a variety of different flavors not found in other Asian nations. Due to their nomadic-pastoralist lifestyle, their food consists mainly of dairy products and meat.

The extreme climate of Mongolia has been the influencing force of their traditional diet since ancient times. As only about 10% of their land is arable, Mongolians rarely include vegetables on their plate. The cuisines of Mongolia are influenced by their historical and cultural ties with China and Russia.

If you live in Houston, you don’t have to book a flight to the land of Genghis Khan to get a taste of their delicacies. Below, we have provided you with a list of the best Mongolian restaurants in Houston. Ride along, horde!

1. Happy Lamb Hot Pot

(5901 Westheimer Rd Ste A Houston, TX 77057)

“Happy Lamb Hot Pot...a perfect cool night to go eat some Hot Pot!! Just like the name of this place, you will leave happy eating hot pot! So what is hot pot, it is also known as Shabu, which is a way of cooking your food. You start with a soup broth base and then choose your selection of proteins, finally add in your “mixins” like your veggies and other items like noodles.

I love how modern, bright and clean this place was. The menu was simple and prices was fair. If you are into spicy, then be adventurous and get the spicy broth. Staff was friendly and they had boxes of gloves and hand sanitizers when you enter. If you are near the Galleria, come check them out. ChowChow Time!!" - Daniel T. on Yelp

2.Genghis Grill

(3879 Southwest Fwy Houston, TX 77027)

“I really don’t know why the rating is so low for Genghis Grill. I’ve had a great experience every single time I’ve been here. You choose YOUR OWN ingredients and it’s mostly self serve after that.

Anywho.. I really enjoy that you can really make your meal just how you like it and service has always been decent when I have dined. Whoever checked us in let us know all about their specials throughout the week, and I really appreciated that. We’ll be back on Tuesday when takeout is 20% off!” - Ashley M. on Yelp.

3. Hot Pot City

(8300 W Sam Houston Pkwy S Houston, TX 77072)

“Listen. The hot pot looked amazing on each table with all the additions but I was alone and didn’t want to order all that just for me.

I went with the Asian wings. Wow. I mean head shaking good. I want to say they have a seafood sauce on them and you can choose your flavor level. If you like it hot, get 5! I did. My stomach didn’t agree but they were delicious! I’m going to go back and try the hotpot. And get more wings of course!” - Classi S. on Yelp.

And that’s the list! It’s a short one, indeed, but it’s worth the shot to pay a visit to each of the restaurants. We believe the experience you get there will be a memorable one!
