The twin-cities of Bristol, Tennessee & Bristol, Virginia have a lot going for them. One more thing to add to the list is Stateline Bar & Grille. At the corner of State Street and 7th Street (across from Piedmont Avenue on the Virginia side of town), you'll find a great little bar with a good menu and great upstairs meeting/catering space.
Stateline Bar & Grille
Stateline Bar & Grille opened in 2002 and serves the twin-cities Tuesday-Saturday. They actually close Sundays and Mondays. The restaurant has a great menu with plenty of options for appetizers, entrees and sides. The offerings aren't too prolific, keeping the numbers just right so they don't have to stock so many items they end up getting old in the freezer.
The service has always been top-notch when I've been there and you'll often find live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights, followed by a DJ after the live band finishes their last set. They often have iced tea with cloves that my wife absolutely loves, so you may want to give it a try if you like variety.
Bar
The full service bar has all the amenities you'd expect in a bar. Local and national brews are available on tap with a few others available in bottles. The distilled spirits are adequate for most common mixed drinks as well.
The building is old enough for great atmosphere. The main dining room has adequate space for dancing as well.
Event space
The event space upstairs is perfect for most gatherings. The space has its own bar, while they maintain a separate catering menu fit for most all occaisions.
The pricing is right on target for offerings of equal value throughout their menu. It's a great place that is family friendly and welcoming from locals and out-of-towners alike. You'll get a good vibe when you walk in the door.
If you're in Bristol, I recommend giving it a try.
