Anyone who lives in Colorado knows all too well that Interstate 25 is the most dangerous interstate to drive on in the entire state.
Whether it is because of the high speeds, the high volume, or the fact that so many drivers are distracted, there are numerous fatalities on this highway every single year.
This morning was no exception as there was a terrible crash on Interstate 25 that resulted in one fatality and a dozen injuries.
According to several reports, a woman was driving and hit a deer in the southbound lanes of the Interstate near Happy Canyon Road. According to Gary Culter, a Master Trooper with the Colorado State Patrol, the people in the vehicle that hit the deer got out and multiple cars hit those people.
Other sources revealed that the woman got out of the vehicle and was hit by another vehicle driving southbound and the force from the car threw the woman into the northbound lanes of I-25 and killed her.
Currently, investigators are working to determine the number of vehicles involved in the accident. It was confirmed that there were three other men with the woman at the time of the crash and they were injured.
South Metro Fire Rescue tweeted that nine people were transported to area hospitals.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, both directions of I-25 were closed due to the crash but have reopened. Early investigators have revealed that alcohol and speed are not believed to be contributing factors in the crash, but more details to come.
This is extremely tragic as there are so many deaths on this highway every year. Have you ever driven down I-25, and if so, did it seem more dangerous to you than other highways in the country?
