AKRON — Project GRAD Akron will be hosting its fourth Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) professional development workshop session virtually on June 9, 2021, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Dr. Lisa Williams, a founder of Education in Equity Partners (EEP), is scheduled as the guest speaker.

This workshop is free and open for the public to join.

Previously, Project GRAD Akron has held three sessions on DEI professional development workshops since January 2021. The first session was held on January 19 with Dr. Fedearia Nicholson-Swevalthe, Dean of Student Success at Stark State College and Vice President of PGA’s Board as the speaker. He lectured about “Understanding Diversity and Inclusion: The Building Blocks to Equity”.

Andre’ Lessears, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at

University of Alabama Medical Center became the speaker in the second session on February 16. He discussed “Implicit Bias” in this workshop.

In the third session held on March 16, Project GRAD Akron invited Martin H. Belsky, Esq. , Randolph Baxter, Professor of Law at The University of Akron and PGA Board President, as the speaker for the topic: “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: The Legal Framework”.

These three workshop sessions were interactive, thought-provoking, highly-rated, and received ardent reviews and comments from participants.
