There are no credentials that say you can or cannot be a writer. Sure, if you’re publishing something scientific or medical, then you should have some credibility to back it up, otherwise, the world is yours.

So many people (including myself) think that they aren’t qualified enough to write content online. The truth is, you don't need any prior experience, you don’t need to be an influencer, and you don’t need to have a personal brand.

It’s a very freeing creative outlet that many people have done for years and years. While you might be hesitant to share your thoughts, opinions, and even poetry, your words can carry more weight than you think.

When I first started writing, I had zero followers, no experience, and doubt in myself.

On deployment in Saudi Arabia, I was watching a Gary Vee video and he mentioned blogging. It’s something I had never considered before. But I wanted to give it a try without knowing the outcome because I had nothing to lose and I was bored.

Here we are nearly two years later and I’m still writing, still sharing my opinions, and producing content at a far more extended scale.

It’s one of my jobs now. It helps pay the bills. It helped my girlfriend and I move out. It’s helping me mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.

The followers didn’t matter, but my fear of judgment did.

As I stated earlier, you don’t need to be credible to share your stories. You can tell us all about your personal experiences with things that may seem so trivial.

The way to get better exposure to your stories is by sharing an attention-grabbing headline, providing clear points, and an unforgettable takeaway. The judgment fades into the background when you focus on your message.

When you understand that your intentions are pure and positive, any hate comments or judgment doesn’t phase you. I’ve accumulated followers, but I’ve accumulated enemies too. It doesn’t phase me. I stay in my lane and know my intentions are pure.

You can write whenever the hell you want without anyone telling you how much or how little.

Writing doesn’t have a time limit. It doesn’t have a word count. It doesn’t have any parameters that stop you from sharing the message you want.

You get to choose where you post. You get to choose when you write. You get to decide if it’s worth being in your life.

Nobody is going to hold you accountable to writing except for yourself, (unless you’re getting paid as a job). It’s very flexible and you get to make your own hours. Isn’t that what everyone wants?

Final Thought

As a life-long creator, I have never felt more enjoyment than I have with writing. It’s here to stay. It came into my life and I can’t let it go.

You may feel differently. It may be strenuous and annoying to come up with new ideas — something to share. It may be tough to open yourself up.

Regardless of your experience, your background, or your confidence level, you can write. The longer you put it off, the more likely you’ll never do it. No one is pressuring you while you write.

It’s just you, your hands, and your thoughts. Get after it.
