A photographer in Boston captured the precious heartwarming moment when a father swan was carrying all his babies on his back after their mom passed away.
As Charles River Esplanade reported, the mother swan died of unknown causes. It happened while she was in her nest, looking after her babies. Boston Animal Control came on the spot and safely removed the swan from the nest.
What happened next?
While the mother swan was being taken away the father did not walk away and abandon the babies. “He sat at the nest with their cygnets tucked under his wings,” as Fox News reports.
A few days later Photographer Matthew Raifman went to the nest location and he shared with WBZ-TV that he “noticed something was kind of unusual.”
“All the baby cygnets were on top of the papa swan.”
Raifman quickly grabbed his camera and captured incredible photos while the father swan was tenderly looking after his babies. The photos were posted on social media.
“One of the most heartbreaking and heartwarming stories in a while. Hopefully our newest swan family is in the clear, but at least all of Boston is pulling for them!” Raifman wrote in his post.
The Boston photographer shared with FOX 35 News how happy he was that he had the chance to be there at the right time to make those moments unforgettable and show everyone the unique affection that they spread.
“I saw them this morning and they are doing great!” he said about the Boston swan family.
