This is not a story about why I’m better than anyone else for working from a computer. This is a story about how there is an infinite number of opportunities thanks to technology.
We have to figure out what we love, what is worth our time, and what we can put up with. Luckily, I’ve found that marketing and writing are those two things.
I have always been very savvy with technology, intrigued by creating content, and sharing my thoughts. If you want to learn a bit more about me and how I got to the point where my computer and tapping a few keys helps me pay the bills and make a living, continue reading.
I always tried new things, and I either loved it or hated it.
When it came to photography, I loved taking pictures and exploring new places. But when it came to photoshoots, I only made about $50 bucks a shoot and that wasn’t enough to pursue it full-time.
When it came to YouTube, I enjoyed making videos, talking to the camera, and sharing insight, but it’s super competitive.
Views based on videos were so hard to achieve because there’s so much competition and so many other people with production teams and I was an army of one.
When it came to writing, I got noticed by an amazing company named Haikhuu and began producing content for them. Writing also offered me several platforms that cared about paying their writers and even offering bonuses.
No matter what type of online work you’d like to try, you have to keep looking and you can’t give up.
I never assumed or expected anything to actual work, but kept at it.
Writing and marketing fell into my lap just because I was being myself and being creative. I knew that eventually, an opportunity would come my way, it was just a matter of when.
Luckily, after 6 months of consistent publishing, consistent work, consistent grinding, I reached a point where I got noticed and offered a paying position.
I’m not swimming in money, but I’m living comfortably with smart budgeting and being smart with finances with my girlfriend.
It’s weird to say that I write and do marketing for a living. It makes me proud to say that I do something like that — when it didn’t seem possible growing up.
There’s so much money to be made as long as you have marketable skills.

- Customer Service
There are so many marketable skills we can all acquire by discovering what we enjoy and putting a lot of attention into them.
Final Thought
I remember writing in my tent in Saudi Arabia while I was deployed. It seemed like a great way to stay occupied. I saw an opportunity deep inside of it.
Then it turned into so much more. It’s surreal. I don’t feel like I’ve “made it”, but I found something for now that helps pay the bills.
Anything is possible when you put your mind to it and maintain the long-term perspective.
