Terrible news from California today. The police department in Visalia, California has released a statement that a three-year-old girl has died after being left in a boiling hot car for hours while her mother "tending to marijuana grow".

Police arrested Eustajia Mojica Dominguez, the child's mother, after they responded to a call about a little girl, Jessica Campos, who "was not breathing" Thursday. Little Jessica was left outside of a home on Perez Avenue in Visalia, a town about 40 miles from Fresno. The officer who arrived attempted CPR, and then Fire and ambulance. Jessica was taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead.

Investigators on the scene say it "was at least 100 degrees outside" when the baby was left inside the vehicle "for about three hours." When questioned, Ms. Dominguez stated she was working with marijuana while her daughter was in the car. The Narcotics and Special Enforcement Units discovered 150 marijuana plants and around 475 pounds of ready to sell product inside the home.

To make matters worse, there were four adults that available to assist Jessica befor eher death. Also, there were four children with the edlest being 15 handed over to Child Protective Services after the adults were arrested for child endangerment. As for Jessica's mother, she faces an added charge of involuntary manslaughter.

The adults involved were named and are now being held at the Tulare County Pretrial Facility.

Police are pushing for adding drug charges for all five of the culprits, but the final details have not been decided pending complietinon of the investigation.

I don't know about you, but I am horrified, disgusted, all of the above. I am personally not a mother, but even I understand the responsibilty a parent has to do right by their innocent child who turns to you for protection. As a California native, I understand how hot the summers can get, and in a car, it's even worse. It baffles me that people don't understand a hot car is not the place for a child or pet.
