Since I started to love Old Hollywood movies, I also discovered Doris Day, Rock Hudson, and the types of movies that they were doing.

I love musicals, and on top of those, I love the light comedies, that give you some laughter from the heart and make you feel like you are enjoying more your time on earth.

This is why I thought about sharing some nice, soft, good comedies starring Doris Day.

They will make you smile, forget about your troubles, meditate about a few things, take life easier, with less stress and less drama (especially after this Covis situation that I think we all lived so heavily).

I do believe that one of the purposes of movies is to make our dream, relax, live in a less stressful, happier existence.

If our thoughts and emotions create our existence - why not make them colorful, pleasant, and enjoyable?

I already wrote about Doris Day and her career before, so you already are introduced to what she did and who she was in the Hollywood gold era.

Calamity Jane (1953)

This is one of the films that I saw with Doris Day.

It is a musical, simple and funny like most of her movies, where she plays a cow-girl, or a girl who doesn't really know how to be a girl and to embrace her femininity.

She is mostly a man, dresses and acts like a man, but still has a woman's heart, capable to fall in love.

What she does, in what adventures and troubles she gets into, you will discover only seeing the movie, quite enjoyable and not at all complicated or "heavy".

The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956)

This is a well-known one, so I won't insist very much, starring both the incredible James Stewart and Doris Day. The film won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)", sung by Doris Day. (source: Wikipedia)

Pillow Talk (1959)

The first of a series starring Doris Day and Rock Hudson, this light comedy is what you need to relax and have a good laugh after a hard-working day.

Doris Day and Rock Hudson share the same telephone line, and they don't seem to be able to stand each other.

But what happens when he accidentally bumps into her and gets mesmerized by her beauty?

That Touch of Mink (1962)

This was probably my favorite romantic comedy from the last period, as I started to see more movies from the thirties and the forties.

It also stars Cary Grant and Doris Day, so there was no way I could ignore it, but it's funny that no one talks about these movies anymore, that should be rediscovered by all generations and be treated like what they are: true gems.

I laughed so much at this movie, that I felt like seeing it twice.

I love the fact that the characters and dialogues are smart. It is actually one of the movies with some of the smartest, more pleasant sets of repliques, and this is always a pleasure to the mind and the intellect.

Of course- the story is highly enjoyable, and what to say about the main characters, who are brilliant as always?

A treat.

Send Me No Flowers (1964)

This cute romantic comedy featuring again Doris Day and Rock Hudson was also among my favorites.

The development of the action is so funny that you will surely enjoy it.

And the actors are great, including the best friend Tony Randall.

They are very funny and will give you lots of funny treats all along.

Besides this, the reason I enjoyed the movie is the fact that it speaks about marriage and its challenges. It is, if you see it, a deep movie.

It speaks about trust and support among husbands.

About the difficult choices and the sacrifice that they sometimes must do, for the good of the other and of the relationship.

While bringing into attention these deeper levels, it does it in a funny, entertaining way, so that's why the film, the plot, actors, and producers were geniuses.

A must-see, in a hot summer evening, for enjoyable good time and reflections on life's important things.
