Our summer season has started and many have already planned their holidays. If you're not sure yet where to spend the vacation days this year I've got a great suggestion for you. A beach and beautiful park at the same time, located on the Californian coast has lots to offer.

Morro Bay State Park includes a large lagoon and a natural bay habitat. Large boulders and steep cliffs are the characteristic features of this park. Aside from activities in and on the ocean and on land, there is a museum inside the park that features Native American Life, Geology, and other interesting topics. Unfortunately, the museum is currently closed due to the pandemic restrictions but will hopefully open soon again for visitors.

One of the other highlights is an 18-hole public golf course with stunning views across the bay. For sure a place to be for any golf lovers.

Bird lovers count this park as a paradise since birds are thriving in the brackish marshes on the eastern edges of the park. Other popular activities than bird watching are sailing, fishing and hiking.

The park welcomes day visitors and overnight says in a campsite offering 135 sites. The camp is inside a mixed forest and provides, therefore, plenty of shade. If you are interested in exploring the calm waters on a kayak there's a kayak rental place inside the park. Paddling along on the saltwater lagoon is a great way to experience marine life but also birdlife in the park. If kayaking isn't for you then take the offer and rent a boat from the marina. A variety of fishing boats, pedal boats and kayaks are available for visitors.

The campsites invite campers with their RV or tents but only allow two vehicles per site. For those looking for some more comfort and luxury, there are some of the best cabins in the state available for rent. These cabins are having huge windows overlooking the bay and the stunning landscape of the lagoon.

Other facilities the camp is offering are a playground and picnic sites, a pavilion, and countless trails. For hikers, these trails offer the best option to explore the park and embrace the beauty of the wildlife and nature itself.

The park itself is currently open for day visitors and overnight campers. Just the museum remains closed until further notice as well as tours in the park and other events.

So don't hesitate, book your slot and head out to the beach!
