Shortly after 6 am on Friday firefighters responded to a structure fire at 1537 S Wilton Pl.
Firefighters advised that heavy smoke was showing from the rear of a two-story house. The two-story house was recently the scene of a previous fire.
Firefighters confirmed that the house was boarded up following a previous fire there.
They then searched the interior of the house for signs of people in the house and the source of the fire.
Firefighters then battled the flames in the attached one-story area on the back side of the house with hoses stretched across Venice Blvd at S Wilton Pl.
About twenty minutes later, firefighters advised that most of the fire was extinguished and the flames did not extend into the attic. No people were found inside the house during their initial search. This was subsequently updated.
Firefighters advise they found one person inside on the second floor of the house. No injury is reported.
Police are also responding to assist firefighters with controlling public access to the fire scene.
Firefighters advise they will be at the house for approximately an hour working to ensure the fire is completely extinguished.
The First Fire
A fire damaged a vacant residential building in the Arlington Heights area of Los Angeles in January, but no one was hurt.
The fire was reported at 10:14 a.m. on the first floor of the boarded-up, two-story “multi-family dwelling” in the 1500 block of South Wilton Place, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters extinguished the flames in 24 minutes, Humphrey said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
