ATLANTA — Unversity System of Georgia (USG) Chancellor Steve Wrigley and Board of Regents Chairman Sachin Shailendra have announced Dr. T. Ramon Stuart as the sole finalist for president of Clayton State University.

Wrigley expressed his remarks upon the inauguration, saying that Dr. T. Ramon Stuart's experience would benefit the university to increase student success, grow its campus community, and expand its academic reach across metro Atlanta and Georgia. "Dr. Stuart is a veteran leader in higher education who has done an outstanding job over his career of keeping a focus on how to help more students stay on track and succeed in attaining their college degree," said Wrigley.

Dr. Stuart is a doctorate graduate from Gladys W. and David. H Patton College of Education at Ohio University. He is an experienced higher education administrator at FVSU since 2016, responsible for the Academic Affairs Division at FVSU. His proven achievement during the role is the elevation of FVSU students' retention rate to the mid-70th percentile and 15 percent on graduation rate.

Some other achievements from Dr. Stuart were paved during his previous career at West Virginia State University. As a faculty member and key leader, he has succeeded in developing an engineering 2+2 degree program and helping to increase overall enrollment by expanding international recruitment and more.

The Board of Regents will act on the position at a future board meeting, no sooner than five days from naming a finalist. Meanwhile, current Clayton State President, Tim Hynes, has announced his retirement at the end of June.
