HOUSTON — Houston Independent School District (HISD) now accepts applications for their Summer Student Leadership 2021 program for HISD high school students and alumni enrolled in college or university. HISD's Summer Student Leadership 2021 program a six-week paid summer internship and leadership development program.
The program addresses the need to expose students to fulfilling careers and skills the market demands in this fast-changing world. HISD claims this program aligns with HISD's purpose to empower students with the tools they need to achieve their full potential. Participants will receive significant job experience and have the opportunity to try out several career paths before deciding on a college major or entering the workforce.
Up to twenty scholars will be chosen to complete internships in various departments. District leaders will mentor the successful applicants. The new interns will be allowed to work from Monday through Thursday, with working hours are to be determined by their respective departments. They will learn about the functions and tasks of their departments and participate in projects that benefit the students at HISD. A final presentation concerning their internship will conclude the Summer Student Leadership Program.
Applicants must be HISD high school students or alumni currently enrolled at a college or university, be legally authorized to work in the United States, and be at least 16 years old. The internships will take place from July 6 to August 12. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, June 16.
