Located in the heart of Lititz, PA, you'll find Blackworth Live Fire Grill.

This fairly new restaurant is occupying the historic building and landmark Wilbur Chocolate. When the chocolate factory closed its doors and moved to a different location five years ago, opportunities opened up for new use of the building. Today, you'll find Blackworth Live Fire Grill, along with the Market at the Wilbur, and The Wilbur Lititz here.

Historic elements

Blackworth opened its doors in the late fall of 2019, and in the short time it's been open, it has become a popular dining spot in the county.

The style in this restaurant is a mix of old factory mixed with contemporary, and you'll also find several elements of art deco.

A wood-fired oven, visible to all guests through an open kitchen, was central to the owners' Eric and Vicki Hoover vision when this restaurant was in the planning phase. They also wanted to include the historic elements of this unique spot, such as original brick walls, wood columns, and flooring.

The bar, which usually is a key space for gathering (unless you're in the middle of a pandemic, that is), is visible through the front windows of the building, giving a peek into the restaurant from the street. There's also a seating area closer to the back of the restaurant. This can be closed off from other patrons, offering possibilities for a more private dining space.

The architecture and interior design were completed by the locally praised York-based company Warehaus.

The food

The atmosphere here feels upscale yet rustic. This American restaurant serves traditional food, with a rustic and local twist to it.

At Blackworth Live Fire Grill, the owners are all about capturing the creativeness the live-fire grill brings. Their team is focused on embracing the culture of the local community, and including local foods and ingredients every season of the year.

In the kitchen, they work with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and the grill is used for many of the items on the menu. The taste of smoke and flame is celebrated at Blackworth. Charred avocado is one of their specialties, pictured below. This appetizer with aji verde, lime dressing, puffed wild rice is delicious. That is, as long as you like avocado.
