HOUSTON — There are many places that you can explore in Houston. If you like riding a bike with your loved one, make sure this activity is on your date checklist the next time you want to try something different in the city. And if you're looking for a place to go, we've compiled six recommendations just for you:

  1. White Oak Bayou Trail

Take your date for a 17 miles ride of beautiful scenery to enjoy. Don't forget to capture your romantic moment around the gorgeous landscapes of Woodland, Stude, TC Jester, and Watonga Parkway Parks. The route might be challenging for first-timers, but don't let that discourage you. After the journey, you can also visit Bane Park to take a break, located right off the White Oak Bayou Greenway Trail and W Little York Road.

2. Terry Hershey Hike and Bike Trail

Spanning over 10 miles, Terry Hershey has got some of the nicest on and off-road bike trails in Houston. Adventurous couples can go for the dirt path, and if that's not for you, there's also a paved path for you and your date to take it slow. There's a walk-in sundial where you can tell the time from your shadow if you stand on the appropriate stone (provided the sun is shining, of course). So, why don't you give it a try during your date?

3. Memorial Park

This exciting route will present you with a whole new experience, especially if you're a mountain biker. Memorial Park has got different paths for different types of bikers. If you like challenges to spice up your date, try the green and orange trails. If you are a first-timer, the purple track will suit your bike date more.

4. Hermann Park to Rice Village (via Brays Bayou Greenway Trail)

Do you prefer an urban route instead? Then try this one. Just minutes from downtown, you can visit various spots at Hermann Park, such as Houston Zoo, Hermann Park Golf Course, and a Japanese garden. If you prefer to have a lot of places to go and hang around, this might be the ideal choice.

5. George Bush Hike and Bike Trail

Are you looking for something more intimate? Then this trail might be the one for you and your date. You'll immediately spot lakes, bridges, marshes, and a giant park that fits the romantic atmosphere when you get there. George Bush Hike and Bike Trail are also connected to Terry Hershey Hike and Bike Trail, so you can go further and make your date more challenging if that's what you want.

6. Buffalo Bayou Hike and Bike Trail

Buffalo Bayou is a 160-acre green space in the heart of the city. You and your date will travel 15 miles through parks, over bridges, and past native landscapes. It's suitable for couples who enjoy riding, as much as exploring and enjoying the scenery. The Water Works at Sabine Street can be a highlight of your date.
