HOUSTON — The Houston Dash has reached an agreement with Tigres UANL Femenil for María Sánchez, a Mexican international forward, to join Houston on loan until June. Previously, Sánchez helped Tigres win a second league title in the 2021 Liga MX Champions on May 31.

Sánchez joins the Houston Dash after the club got her rights in a trade with Chicago Red Stars for Houston’s natural second-round pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft. Currently, the Houston Dash has 28 players on their active list ahead of the 2021 NWSL season. Despite playing internationally for Mexico, she will not be included in the international roster spot as she was born in the United States.

This weekend, the Houston Dash is scheduled to go to the Midwest to compete against Kansas City NWSL as they struggle to get their first points on the road this season. The kickoff for Sunday’s afternoon match is set for 1:00 p.m. CT at Legends Field. Fans can watch their match through Paramount+ and international fans on Twitch.

Meanwhile, Sanchez has scored a goal in seven appearances since she started to join Tigres at the beginning of this year as a free agent. Before taking part as a player in Tigres, Sánchez spent the 2020 season at Chivas Femenil, scoring five goals in 21 appearances for Guadalajara.

Sanchez made her debut in 2015 with the senior Mexican Women’s National Team and played in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad. At that time, she became the second-youngest player on the team. She continued her rookie season in 2019 with the Red Stars.
