HOUSTON — South Texas College of Law Houston will be relaxing their Covid-19 precaution as South Texas returns to normal. Dr. Setul Patel, the medical advisor for the college, recommends the course of action for some of the precautions after reviewing the CDC guidelines and other data.

The campus stated that it would discontinue the use of the ReturnSafe app. Students and faculty would no longer be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. All Covid-19 signage would be removed.

The easing of Covid-related rules would also mean that the institution will remove restrictions on elevator use and one-way hallway traffic, permit visitors on campus to use regular visitor policies, and allow campus events and school-sponsored travel.

The law school will remove plexiglass from public places, such as the cafeteria, but not from the classes. Staff departments will have the option to keep or remove plexiglass shields in their areas.

However, Dr. Patel still asserted the importance of vaccination. According to the latest data, there have been 10,000 cases of Covid-19 among more than 100 million vaccinated adults, which means there is one case for every 10,000 vaccinated individuals.

People who already receive the COVID-19 vaccine have a higher chance of protecting themselves, their family and the South Texas community, including those immunocompromised. People who have yet to receive the vaccine will be encouraged to use facial coverings and maintain social distancing on the campus. This directive also applies to those who are vaccinated but who have individual health concerns.
