At 6 pm Wednesday a shooting incident was reported at Jamestown Ave & Harney Way near Bayview Park.

Minutes later, officers arrived on the scene of a shooting, where a man was shot once in the thigh. According to locals, the man looked like a jogger. He was wearing track shoes and shorts and appeared to be on his way through the area.

Emergency Medical Services were en route to tend to the man's injuries.

Police then established a scene but did not immediately provide a description of any potential suspects.

Police then reported they are looking for a blue Honda Accord suspected to being in relation to the shooting. The car was last seen going westbound on Harney Way from Jamestown Ave.

Video from Citizen app user BlueFlamingo showed emergency vehicles near the scene of the shooting.

Crime in Bayview

Bayview experiences one of the highest violent-crime rates among San Francisco's residential neighborhoods. It saw 760 serious violent crimes in 2018, 21 more than South of Market.

Bayview crime rates are 186% higher than the national average, with violent crime 286% above the national average and property crime at 168% above the national average, according to Area Vibes.

However, according to Niche, many people who spend time in the Bayview feel pretty safe there and police, while sometimes slow, typically respond to requests for help.

Earlier today, according to the Chronicle, Mohammed Nuru, the former director of San Francisco Public Works at the center of a federal corruption case, was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery after a report that he brandished a knife at a person Wednesday morning, according to San Francisco police.
