Canalside Kicks Off Summer of Fitness with Weekly June Classes

As summer begins to shine down on Western New York, getting active and fit for the new season has been on everybody’s mind. The summer series “Fitness at Canalside” begins in the month of June at Canalside, offering up a handful of weekly and monthly fitness events to the community in Downtown Buffalo, New York.

Kicking things off on June 1 from six until seven in the evening is Zumba at Canalside. The simple and easy dance-based workout Zumba will be led by three different instructors along the gorgeous summer Buffalo Waterfront. The event is free and requires pre-registration beforehand, availability is extremely limited due to social distancing requirements.

In order to check in for Zumba at Canalside, go to the Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York Welcome Tent. Although the event is free, please bring your own equipment, and wear a mask if you are unvaccinated. Zumba at Canalside is also available June 8, 15, 22, and 29 at the same time from six to seven in the evening.

Coming up on June 2 from six until seven in the evening is BikeORBar at Canalside. The high-intensity interval training workout requires no equipment, just one’s own bodyweight and space, and is free to the public with pre-registration. Social distancing is still in effect, masks are required for those who have not yet been vaccinated, and water is highly suggested to be brought given the nature of the workout.

Checking in for BikeORBar is the same process as checking in for Zumba, simply go to the Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York Welcome Tent. BikeORBar will also take place during the following dates: June 9, 16, 23, and 30 at the same time of six to seven in the evening.

Taking place on June 3 from six to seven in the evening is La’Movement at Canalside. This free Pilates stretch class promises a full body workout that will leave exercisers feeling refreshed. Those interested should bring their own mat and resistance bands are strongly encouraged.

The check-in process for La’Movement is the same as it is for Zumba and BikeORBar, simply go to the Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York Welcome Tent. Masks are required for unvaccinated individuals. La’Movement will also take place during the following dates: June 10, 17, and 24 at the same time of six to seven in the evening.

Occurring on June 4 from six to seven in the evening is Soma Cura Yoga at Canalside. The free class is open to all levels of yoga students and promotes courage, strength, and calm. The same pre-registration and check-in processes as the other Fitness at Canalside events applies. Soma Cura Yoga takes place every single day of the month of June from six to seven time slot starting with the June 4 event at Canalside.

Coming up on June 5 from nine to ten in the morning is the Shannon Connors Fitness Class at Canalside. Join fitness enthusiast Shannon Connors for a high-energy morning workout that is designed to work every muscle in the body. The same pre-registration and check-in processes as all other Fitness at Canalside events applies. The Shannon Connors Fitness Class will also meet on June 12, 19, and 26 at the same time of nine to ten in the morning.

Taking place on June 5 from ten to eleven in the morning is Sow Fit at Canalside. This kid-friendly musical exercise regiment is perfect for children looking to improve focus, coordination, and physical fitness through team-oriented challenges. The same pre-registration and check-in processes as all other Fitness at Canalside events applies. Sow Fit at Canalside will also take place on June 12, 19, and 26 at the same time of ten to eleven in the morning.

Starting on June 6 and running every day thereafter from nine to ten in the morning is Box Star at Canalside. This non-combative boxing and kickboxing workout focuses heavily on resistance training. The same pre-registration and check-in processes as all other Fitness at Canalside events applies. Also occurring on June 6 from ten to eleven in the morning is Yoga Steve at Canalside, where the same pre-registration and check-in processes as all other Fitness at Canalside events apply.

Coming up on June 7 from six to seven in the evening is Graceful Warrior Yoga at Canalside. This yoga class is designed to inspire grace, strength, power, and clarity through the unique experience. The same pre-registration and check-in processes as all other Fitness at Canalside events applies. Graceful Warrior Yoga will also take place on June 14, 21, and 28 at the same time of six to seven in the evening.

Closing things out, Barre Centric at Canalside will also occur on June 7 from seven to eight in the evening. The class will feature a blend of Pilates, ballet, and orthopedic stretching to increase flexibility in a one hundred percent low impact environment. The same pre-registration and check-in processes as all other Fitness at Canalside events applies.
