HOUSTON — Houston Dash Women Soccer Club has signed the midfielder Andrea Hauksdottir as their newest player. Hauksdottir will join the club for a whole year, according to her contract.

She had spent a year in Breidablik FC of Iceland and Le Havre AC from the Division 1 Féminine in France before joining Dash. A native of Kopavogur, Iceland, she began her career as a professional soccer player in Europe after graduating from the University of South Florida. While in Florida from 2016 to 2020, Hauksdottir brilliantly spent four seasons with The Bulls, scoring 18 goals and tallying 26 assists. She made a total of 78 appearances with the club.

Hauksdottir earned two The American Midfielder of The Year titles and three back-to-back All-Conference First Team honors while she played in college.

She moved back home to Iceland in May 2020 to sign a professional deal with Breidabllik FC, Iceland's top-tier women's soccer league. Hauksdottir scored a goal in 21 appearances in 2020 before being loaned to Le Havre for another seven appearances.

Hauksdottir has been part of the Icelandic Women's National Team, even before she made her first senior team appearance in 2016. Since her first youth performance in 2012 with the U-16 team, she has been part of the national time. She later performed with Iceland's U-17, U-18, and U-19. Hauksdottir has scored two goals in her 11 international appearances.

On April 13, 2021, Hauksdottir was part of Iceland's starting lineup for their international friendly match against Italy. She'll play two friendlies against Ireland on June 11 and June 15.
