Emory names new director of diversity and inclusion

ATLANTA — After a thorough search, Russell T. Griffin has been appointed as Emory’s new Director of Diversity and Inclusion Education and Outreach. Griffin joined the institution on May 17th.

“This new position was created ... to ‘improve the Emory experience and live up to our values so that everyone feels a sense of belonging and shared purpose,’” said Wanda Hayes, Assistant Vice President for Learning and Organizational Development, “We are particularly excited to have Russell join ... where we will be able to integrate his initiatives in diversity and inclusion into our larger body of work.”

Griffin has an arsenal of work experiences in learning design and facilitation. His most recent clients include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Emory University, Atlanta Metro Municipal Government, University of Florida, and Auburn University. He once also served as head of diversity for MetLife Individual Business.

Having earned his Bachelor of Arts in mass communication and public relations from the State University of New York College at Buffalo, Griffin has experience in the marketing and communications field. He is also a graduate of the Harvard University Business School and earned his MS in industrial and organizational psychology from Walden University. Presently, he is pursuing his Ph. D. in industrial and organizational psychology.
