CLEVELAND – Avient Corporation, a major supplier of sustainable and specialized material solutions, has named Dr. Vinod Purayath their new Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President.
With almost 20 years of experience in scientific leadership and Research & Development, Dr. Purayath joins the company to lead the development of its next-generation, sustainable, and emerging technologies.

A business leader with an entrepreneurial, technical outlook, Dr. Purayath has a particular interest in digital memory applications and semiconductors. At SanDisk Corporation, he filled in engineering and technical leadership positions for eight years, leading and building a global team of engineers whose success supported the company's growth. He later joined Applied Materials as the technology leader for its new Selective Removal Products business and most recently worked for SunRise Memory as Vice President of Process Technology.
Dr. Purayath's academic credentials are immense, including a Ph.D. in Quantum Engineering and Science Systems, University of Tokyo; a Master's Degree in Materials Science in Engineering, PSG College of Technology; a Master's Degree of Business Administration, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); and a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Physics, Bharathiar University. A passionate and persistent innovator, he has been named as an inventor in over 150 patents.
