This is the same small Iowa community dealt with the murder of Mollie Tibbetts in 2018. Her murderer was found guilty just last week.

11-year-old Xavier Harrelson was last seen near his home in the tiny town of Montezuma, Iowa on May 27 at 11:00 AM near his home on Montezuma’s north side.

Montezuma has only 1400 or so people and is over an hour east of the Iowa capitol of Des Moines. The little hamlet is tucked just under busy Interstate 80 which terminates in San Francisco due west and Chicago and New York City due east.

has brought in investigators from the state Division of Criminal Investigation (Iowa DCI) with little luck on the ground in getting close to where Xavier might be or what may have happened to him.

More than 500 civilian searchers volunteered their time and combed every square inch of their corner of Iowa looking for Xavier. The search even went on into Sunday, May 31 – the day of Xavier’s 11th birthday.

Local authorities also asked local property owners to search their private surveillance equipment for any shots of Xavier that they may have missed. So, this little community is really putting all they’ve got into this search effort.

Xavier is about 4’8” tall and 100 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a red t-shirt, blue pajama pants, and black high-top shoes.

The Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office implores anyone with information to call them at 641-623-2107.
