A single-vehicle crash killed 29-year-old Juan Carlos Hernandez on I-10 near Duson (Duson, LA)

29-year-old Juan Carlos Hernandez lost his life following a single-vehicle accident on I-10 near Duson on Tuesday evening.

Police confirmed that the crash caused the fatality of one person and four other people suffered injuries. As per preliminary reports, 59-year-old Daniel Salinas of San Antonio was driving a Ford F350 pickup pulling a utility trailer eastbound on I-10. Authorities believe that the vehicle experienced a sudden tire failure, as a result of which Salinas lost control and exit off the roadway to the left.

The pickup flipped over in the median of I-10, coming to rest on its side. As per reports, a vehicle overturned on its side in the roadway at about 5:40 p.m. The impact of the crash threw Hernandez off the vehicle as he was unrestrained in the left rear seat. On arrival, officials declared him deceased.

Two other back seat passengers were also unrestrained and medics took them to a local hospital with moderate injuries. The driver and front seat passenger were properly restrained and were also transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Officers mentioned that impairment is not suspected, but a standard toxicology sample was obtained from Salinas for analysis.

An investigation is continuing.
