(DALLAS-FORT WORTH, Texas) Starting July 1, toll rates in North Texas will increase, The Dallas Morning News reports.
For those with TollTags, the toll rate will go up from 19 cents to 20 cents per mile on average. In July, a 30-mile drive on toll roads with a TollTag will increase from $5.70 to $6.
People using ZipCash rates instead of having TollTags tend to pay at least 50% more for toll rates. ZipCash customers are billed by mail while those with TollTags have payments automatically deducted from pre-paid accounts when using toll roads.
The change affects the following local toll roads:
- Dallas North Tollway
- Bush Turnpike
- Sam Rayburn Tollway
- Addison Airport Toll Tunnel
- Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge
- Mountain Creek Lake Bridge
- Chisholm Trail Parkway
- 360 Tollway
“This incremental increase in toll rates will help [North Texas Tollway Authority] repay $9.5 billion borrowed to construct its system of safe, clean and convenient toll roads and fund nearly $2 billion of improvements over the next five years,” North Texas Tollway Authority Chairperson John Mahalik said in a press release.
