The Metropolis Chamber of Commerce has announced the dates for the 2021 Superman Celebration. The event is typically celebrated in the second week of June. However, things changed all of a sudden for the world when the coronavirus spread everywhere. Schedules were changed, so as the lives of so many people.
Thankfully, everyone is getting back to their normal life because vaccines are now available, and more and more people are getting vaccinated.
The New Dates of Superman Celebration
This year, Superman Celebration has been pushed from the second weekend of June to the last weekend of July. It will now be held on July 30 and August 1 and will not take place for the usual four days. It means you cannot attend the event for full four days but are allowed to go there you’re your friends and family for three days. This step has been taken to ensure the health and wellbeing of people who have made their minds to attend the wonderful event.
It should be noticed that the event was canceled in 2020 because of COVID-19 concerns. Karla Ogle, a member of the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce, has revealed that the decision was made after a lot of considerations and thoughts. They didn’t want to cancel it the previous year, but the vaccine was not available for COVID-19 so they could not risk the lives of so many people.
“We want everyone to feel safe and be able to enjoy your stay in Metropolis without feeling uneasy about COVID concerns. This was a tough call, especially after having to cancel last year’s event,” Karla Ogle said. “Our decision was not an easy one, but we feel it was the best option for our attendees. We understand many of you have set your vacation time for the second weekend in June and we wholeheartedly hope you will be able to request a change and join us on the new dates. We will switch back to the second weekend in June for 2022, but for 2021 we felt June was a little too soon during this pandemic. We appreciate your understanding and cannot express how much your support and dedication to the Metropolis Superman Celebration means to us! You help make this event what it is. We will be announcing events and guests as soon as everyone is confirmed with the new dates!”

I am not sure how many people will go there to attend this wonderful event, but Metropolis has a welcoming environment so we can keep our expectations high.
There will be a lot of funny games, as usual, and non-stop entertainment including carnival and costume contests throughout the weekend. The Rotary Club may host its annual car show as well.
