(ESTACADA, Ore.) After a driver lost control of their car and crashed into a pickup truck near Milo McIver State Park, three teenagers were killed and two were taken to the hospital, KATU reports.
Just after 9 p.m. on Monday, Clackamas County sheriff’s deputies responded to South Springwater Road near the Redland Road intersection on reports of a crash.
An 18-year-old had been driving a black sedan near the state park and had four passengers in the car, according to the sheriff’s office. Early reports from the crash said the vehicle went into an uncontrolled spin and crossed over the middle line, crashing into a Ford F-350 pickup going the opposite direction.
Two passengers in the sedan were pronounced dead at the scene, and another was transported via LifeFlight helicopter, but later died of their injuries.
The driver and the fourth passenger are in the hospital with crash-related injuries.
The driver of the pickup, a 27-year-old man, was uninjured and is cooperating with detectives.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has not released the names of the teens, as they’re still notifying families. However, the Estacada School District confirmed that some of its students were involved in the crash and released a statement, saying:
