Located downtown, this business has a rich history and a great product. It also used to hold specialty floral design classes, which will hopefully be returning at some point. History
The name is a tribute to the past. The building that now houses Bank of Flowers at the Menomonee Falls location was first used as a bank. The historical building keeps the original charm. The walk-in floral coolr was even once the bank’s original vault. The building was originally designed by Charles C. Anderson. He was a prominent Waukesha architect. Cameron W. Fraser constructed it. He was the editor and publisher of the Menomonee Falls News. It is a great example of a commercial building that was designed in the style of Romanesque Revival architecture.
Originally the building housed the community’s first bank, then the Post Office, the the office of the Menomonee Falls New, and then the Menomonee Falls Telephone Company. It was remodeled in 1988 and again in 2004 when it begame Bank of Flowers. The company is a full-service floral and gift shop on the first floor. There is a second floor which is now where they work on creating large events, weddings and hold design classes. There is also historic memorabilia displayed throughout the shop to pay homage to its roots.
Melissa Maas has been the owner since 2004. She also enjoys giving tours to the customers and telling them about the history of the shop.
Wedding services
The shop offers a variety of wedding day services, where you will not have to worry about last minute details. Bank of Flowers can be there to take care of everything for you.
You can choose to pick up the flowers yourself at no additional cost. You can also choose to have them delivered directly to the venue. They also offer delivery and ceremony pin-on service, where they will set everything up for your big day. They also offer tear down service, where they will come to clean up and tear down all of the floral decorations so your friends and family don’t need to worry about it. You can also add a reception set up, where they will bring all of the decorations from your ceremony to your reception venue. If you want the entire package, you can hire them for all-day coordinating, which includes everything above and more.
Classes
In the past, Bank of Flower held a variety of classes to choose from. Hopefully as things get back to normal, these classes will be offered once again. There was a botanical bulb planting class for $50 that taught you all about botanical bulbs. It includes spring bulbs along with a textural concrete container. The bulbs were daffodils, hyacinths and tulips. There was also a rose floral design class for $45 per person. In this class, you got to learn how to design an arrangement with roses and hydrangeas. There was a sea breeze floral design class where you learned how to design an arrangement with warm ocean colors to brighten up your home. There were also classes featuring flowers of the summer and others that taught you how to work with succulents, holiday flowers, tropical flowers or sunflowers. With so many fun options, here’s hoping the Bank of Flowers is able to bring these classes back soon!
