The Akron Municipal Court has announced some updates regarding its procedures and policies related to Covid-19 on 28 May 2021. The new guidelines are to be applied immediately.

The Municipal Court will give attorneys and court-related individuals access to courtrooms. Guest, however, are still not permitted to enter. Meanwhile, the Traffic Court will be moved back to the 8th floor, and cases will be heard on the same floor instead of the Mezzanine floor.

In the case where jury trials are held in the Traffic Courtroom, Traffic Court cases will be heard in another courtroom or other locations to maintain proper social distancing. Traffic Cases assigned to a judge will be relocated to the 8th and 9th floor courtrooms unless there is a special request by the judge.

The court still strongly recommends the use of audio and video call conferencing, such as Zoom, etc. The court is also continuing the six-foot protocol for public visitors and sanitizing public spaces throughout the day to ensure the wellbeing of the visitors and the staff.

Masks are compulsory for the public when entering the building due to space limitations in the Akron Municipal Court. The members of court staff are also required to wear the mask when interacting with the public. However, the court will not require masks for vaccinated staff working within their space.

If the public has any questions, they are encouraged to contact the appropriate courtroom or divisions directly. The public can also call 330.375.2120 for assistance or other inquiries.
