One of the two campuses of Park Synagogue has now been put up for sale. Designed by Architect Eric Mendelsohn in 1947, the iconic 28.25-acre main campus of the Park Synagogue is located at 3300 Mayfield Road in Cleveland Heights. At the time of writing, no sale price has been given since Allegro Real Estate Brokers and Advisors listed it on May 21.

The Park Synagogue in Cleveland Heights consists of the main temple building and its supporting structures. These structures include the Kangesser Hall addition, two school or daycare facilities, a service garage, and a community mikvah.

Since 2018, the Chaviva High School for Girls has rented a portion of the education part of the building. Meanwhile, The Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District has also leased spaces from the synagogue to park buses since 2014.

Park Synagogue President Susan Ratner wrote in 2020 that it was not financially sustainable to operate two campuses by the next tax year. Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the maintenance cost estimated for the sanctuary, and their ongoing investments, they concluded that they no longer have the financial capacity to keep the synagogue.

Ratner wrote that the synagogue leadership had discussions with the city manager of Cleveland Heights, and there was hope the city would retain the property as a park, but the talks fell apart.

Prospective buyers may request a property tour on June 9, July 14, and August 11. The tour must be scheduled in advance and will be available only for registrants. Appointments can be booked by emailing Justin Hughes at Jhughes@llegrorealty.com.
