One of the most popular things to do in Charlotte. If you are a NASCAR fan, there isn't a more fun experience than visiting the Charlotte Motor Speedway. You can get driving classes and drive a NASCAR race car by yourself. If you are there on a weekend, you can catch a race to add to the fun. Also, don't forget to visit the NASCAR hall of fame, another popular destination for NASCAR fans. Even if you are not a NASCAR fan I suggest you visit the Charlotte Motor Speedway for a unique experience that you won't find at many other places.

Located just 20 miles east of the city is Reed's Gold Mine, the site of the first documented commercial gold find in the United States. The gold mining spread gradually to the nearby counties and North Carolina was the leading producer of gold until the year 1848 when it was taken over by California. While visiting the Reed's Gold Mine you can tour the mines, pan for gold, and explore the stamp mill. The visit to the site is free whereas if you want to pan gold, it is less than $5.

Visit The Mint Museums

No, it is not a museum dedicated to printing money but is in fact the longest-running art museum in North Carolina. There are two locations - the Mint Museum Uptown and the Mint Museum Randolph. If time permits you should visit both locations to see the art collection from the U.S., Africa, and Europe. At both the museums, you will experience the culture of North Carolina. If you can only visit one, I recommend visiting the Mint Museum Uptown due to the numerous contemporary exhibits, Craft + Design Collection, wood and clay art, etc.

Ride on "The Funny Bus"

Without a doubt one of the best way to see the city, the Funny Bus is takes you through some of the most historic and best points of interest in Charlotte with amazing guides who won't stop tickling your funny bone. The ride lasts for about an hour and a half and the jokes may be a little on the edgy side so it may not be the right fit for the easily offended.
