Around 8:30 pm on Monday, firefighters received a report of a structure fire at 6531 Kentland Ave in West Hills. The department dispatched 26 firefighters to the scene and extinguished the flames in 21 minutes.

Firefighters arrived on scene seven minutes later and found smoke wafting from the attic of the house.

Firefighters confirmed smoke in the attic but had not reported a source of the smoke.

Firefighters then investigated the garage.

Firefighters reported light smoke in the garage and opened up the walls and ceiling to check for extended fire throughout the rest of the building.

At around 8:46 pm, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department's Official Twitter account, firefighters have made progress extinguishing the main body of the fire.

Shortly after, the fire department reported that the smoke was abating. They also reported that one person was injured in the incident.

They cleared the garage shortly after this report and extinguished any flames.

Live video shared by Citizen app user Landon1129 showed multiple fire engines at the scene with a hose stretched through the street.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department updates, the house is a 1,675 square-foot one-story home, built in 1959.

LAFD Paramedics continue to treat and will likely transport one injured civilian (unknown age / gender / condition / affiliation / circumstances) for unspecified injuries. The cause of the fire remains under active investigation.
