Wei Ramen is extraordinary. Located in Indianapolis and sharing a space with T-swirl Crêpe, they are the go-to place for ramen downtown. They have an extensive, delicious menu with plenty of options for everyone. Take a look at their extensive menu here.
Our Order, Prices, and Review
My boyfriend and I like to share orders, so we got the 6-piece pork gyoza ($6) to start. The gyoza is extremely crispy and packs a serious crunch. We thought it was great, and loved the texture. The special dumpling sauce paired very nicely with the pork.
We then got a bowl of their Spicy Ramen ($13.99), which included roast pork (our meat choice), "broth w. spicy garlic paste & sea salt flavor, egg wavy noodle, half soft-boiled egg, fish cake, bamboo, lemon, sweet corn" and scallions. We decided to leave out the boiled egg and fish cake in our bowl, as my boyfriend isn't a fan of the egg and I dislike fish cake.
The ramen was perfect. It was quite spicy, but it was tolerable for someone with a medium spice tolerance. The broth was delicious and the noodles and meat were perfectly soft. The bamboo shoots were not rough at all. Besides the broth and noodles, my favorite part of the ramen bowl was the corn. It soaked up the broth and was quite tasty. We did not come close to finishing the contents of the bowl, but we made sure to drink all the broth before leaving.
Final thoughts
Wei Ramen is incredible! They are a stand-alone restaurant, so please support them instead of frequenting chain ramen places, if you can. Their food quality is really up there. The ingredients all tasted fresh and the broth was divine. When we visited Indianapolis, this was our favorite restaurant we ate at, and we will be returning in a few weeks to have another bowl. The staff is very friendly and took great care of us.
Wei Ramen is located at 36 E Washington Rd. in Indianapolis and is open Monday - Thursday 10:30 AM - 9 PM and Friday - Sunday 10:30 AM to 10 PM.
P.S: Try the pork buns for us. We were too stuffed, and I regret not ordering them immensely. We'll get the buns next time!
