Eventually you’re just one It’s a Small World or Haunted Mansion ride away from being sick of your Disney passes. The timeless rides get a bit faded even for the most avid Disney-goer when nothing new is thrown in to add a bit of spice to the usual Disney day-trip. Luckily, Walt Disney World Resort is pretty much always in the process of releasing a new ride or attraction in it’s various Orlando parks.
If you’re already bored of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and the new Star Wars rides then, first of all, you tire of things insanely quickly. But also, check out what you can look forward to in the coming months.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Up there for one of the more popular upcoming attractions, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will be coming to Epcot with a grand opening set for October 1, 2021. This date lines up with the 50th anniversary of the opening of Walt Disney World Resort (almost like they planned it or something). The new ride will be placed in the Streets of Paris along with a new table service and quick-service restaurant called La Crêperie de Paris
This new attraction is based on the film “Ratatouille” and places you in the shoes of Chef Remy in Gusteau’s restaurant. This new dark ride is a 4D adventure built to be enjoyed by the whole family. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will be a trackless ride cloned from Disneyland Paris’ Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy with some differences possible.
TRON Lightcycle Run
With the original concept built in Shanghai Disneyland, TRON Lightcycle Run is coming to Magic Kingdom. This launch coaster based on the Tron franchise is most notable for its unique seating. Guests will straddle the lightcycle in bike-style seating with their stomach against a pad and a back restraint for security. This makes for a much different experience than anything else Disney has in its Orlando parks currently. No official date has been announced for the opening of TRON Lightcycle Run but we can most likely expect the date to be pushed further back due to delays caused by COVID-19.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is a luxury hotel with a whole lot of hype being built near Hollywood Studios. Immersion is something Orlando theme parks seem to be in a race to perfect, between the back and forth launches coming out of both Disney and Universal Studios in recent years.
With Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, guests will embark at the same time on a two-night itinerary that follows an interactive adventure controlled by the guests. Guests will ride in Launch Pods before meeting with the Halcyon starcruiser, dine in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, and participate in activities like wielding a lightsaber. And this is all just the tip of the lightsaber. As the opening date approaches more details are sure to surface.
But keep in mind, this is Disney and anything with mouse ears comes at a premium. Expect this immersive multi-night experience to be expensive. Not to mention the scarcity from a smaller supply of rooms and the mass amount of Star Wars fans climbing over themselves to participate driving up rates further. Rumors have been floated of pricing in the thousands—per person (ouch).
As noted on the Disney website at the time of writing, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will not come to Walt Disney World Resort until sometime in 2022.
Spaceship Earth (Reimagined) and Mary Poppins-Inspired Attraction Postponed
If you’ve been on Spaceship Earth recently, you’ll know it’s showing its age. This attraction has been around since 1982, with updates made in 1986, 1994, and 2008. Due to the pandemic, the previously scheduled refurbishment of Spaceship Earth (set for May 26, 2020) was postponed. It is now at an indefinite postponement along with the Mary Poppins attraction which was an additional part of the major Epcot transformation.
