Starting this June, Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery will launch a new monthly art series dubbed ArtWalk.
As part of its participation during the FAT Village ArtWalk, Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery will celebrate the greater Fort Lauderdale art commuity by showcasing one Fort Lauderdale artist on the last Saturday of every month throughout the year. On that day, the market will host its own event serving to highlight a different South Florida artist. The goal is to foster a sense of community by cultivating awareness.
The inaugural show will display the work by artist Rosanna Kalis. A Wharton MBA and self-taught artist, Kalis pivoted from the world of corporate finance in 2018 to pursue her passion for throwing paint. She now works with local and national brands and organizations to bring powerful art and design visions to life.
On June 26, art lovers can join Kalis and Sistrunk Marketplace at the Rum Bar Lounge. From 6 to 9 p.m., guests are invited to enjoy specialty cocktails while perusing Kalis' art, which is enduringly displayed inside Sistrunk Marketplace & Brewery on the walls of Senbazuru Ramen.
@RosannaKalis is a Korean-American contemporary artist that specializes in large scale paintings, murals, and custom design. Her style is influenced by the lines of traditional Asian art, the intricacies of Art Nouveau, and the flow of urban street art.
The inspiration for the mural evolved from the name of the restaurant, which translates to "one thousand cranes." The owner of Senbazuru wanted to build upon the Japanese legend that folding 1,000 cranes will make your wish come true. In order to bring the story to life, Kalis was able to capture the moment a girl completes the final crane and makes her wish. She wanted to convey a sense of hope in a dreamlike setting, with bold lines to add intensity and power to the image.
During the event, the artist will also be presenting new custom sneaker art alongside various abstract and contemporary style-paintings. Sistrunk Marketplace is the first food hall concept to launch in the Fort Lauderdale arts district.
