If you're looking to add sdomething extra sweet to your morning cup of coffee, consider visiting Oceana Coffee in Tequesta. Not only can you get your favorite coffee beans or brew to-go — you can also help support a local charity while you're refueling.
Founded in 2009, Oceana Coffee is considered Palm Beach County’s first specialty grade coffee roaster. Today, the shop continues its mission to offer high-quality coffee beans produced in small batches. Oceana sources, roasts, supplies, and brews only the top 5% of coffee from around the world, a method that enhances and highlights the array of flavor possibilities in their specialty-grade, expertly-roasted coffee.
Oceana Cofee is brewing up more than good coffee, however; they're also delivering a healthy serving of good vibes. Every few months, the Palm Beach County coffee shop brews up a feel-good event known as the Cup of Kindness giveaway, a charitable endeavor aimed at supporitng the commuity's local charitable organizations.
Launched in 2018, the initiative has become a popular event with locals, who actively participate in helping Oceana Coffee make a positive difference. Each quarter, the local roaster selects three charities to highlight at their local retail stores, as well as to online customers. Over the course of three months, guests at Oceana Coffee are asked to vote for their favorite charity by dropping a coffee bean into the jar that speaks most to their hearts. When voting ends, a $500 donation is awarded to the winning organization, picked by the customers and guests of Oceana Coffee.
Luckily, everyone is a winner with Cup of Kindness: During the three-month-long voting window, each charity also receives its own specific coffee blend in their name, available for sale in the retail store and online via the Oceana Coffee website. Sold for $20 apiece, a total of $5 for every bag sold goes directly to the charity — in addition to the bigger check for the quarterly winner.
For its most recent donation, Oceana Coffee selected Quantum House, The Get There Foundation, and The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association. On Friday, May 21, Quantum House was chosen as the recipient for last quarter's Cup of Kindness, presented with a $500 check — along with a small celebratory event featuring small bites, beer/wine, the shop's own award-winning coffee, and live music.
Quantum House opened in 2001 to families of children who were going through a difficult time and in need of support. Today, Quantum House has 30 rooms and serves more than 1,000 family members each year. Their mission is to provide a caring and supportive home that lessens the burden for families whose children are receiving medical treatment in Palm Beach County.

Networking to Help Children, a Palm Beach County-based initiative that supports other charitable organizations by aiding financially and with volunteerism through donations and the support of sponsors and the attendees of our social and professional events.
Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches, whose mission is to nourish and enrich the lives of homebound seniors by delivering daily fresh meals and food with compassion and love.
Rise Up Kids International, a not-for-profit organization established to support impoverished children living in rural northern Nicaragua. Their focus includes rebuilding local schools, food, and medical supplies to the impoverished to help empower future generations.
