Crime in Marin City

Marin City is a suburb of San Francisco with a population of 3,126. Marin City is in Marin County and is near Sausalito, where the crime was originally reported. Many families and young professionals live in Marin City and residents tend to be liberal. The public schools in Marin City are highly rated, according to Niche.com.

In February of this year, Marin City woman arrested in alleged murder attempt. Marin County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Marin City woman after a stabbing at the Golden Gate Village apartment complex.

According to SFGATE, the history of Marin City began during World War II, when the land between the highway to the east and what is now the Golden Gate National Recreation Area to the west was transformed from a dairy farm into temporary housing for 6,000 workers. The workers built 93 liberty ships and tankers in three years at the Marinship shipyard. When the war ended, white workers either returned home or moved into neighboring towns and cities.

"Black people were not welcome anywhere else in the county at the time," said Small, who moved to Marin City in 1954 when he left the Air Force. But the shipyard workers stayed where they were, he says, and became part of Marin's labor force.
