Does your mind need a tune up? If you're human, the answer is yes. Your mind is like a guitar and constantly needs to be tuned if you're going to play the beautiful music of success. I recently spoke with Seattle resident and coach Andrew Mundy about this important issue of mindset. Here are some highlights of our conversation.

Whenever I think of mindset, you are the first person that comes to mind immediately, because you have helped me with my mindset. So, what is mindset exactly? And why is it so important?

Yeah, it's, it's funny, that's a it's a good question. I mean, you know, I might not have the exact definition of it in my in, you know, ready to go. But I always think of mindset is like, the, the psyche, and you're sort of how your viewpoint of the world is right, you know, the viewpoint of the world in front of you, and just as yourself as a person. And so, obviously, when we think about mindset, you know, we have thoughts happening all the time, in day day, right? We have countless thoughts, so when it comes to mindset, it's really just how are we sort of thinking about the lives that we live. How do we live our best life out? That's sort of how I view mindset.

So how do you help someone who is not focused?

That's a great question. When we have one goal and only one goal that really helps. So if they're focused on creating a business, they get very clear on what they want in that business. And then they, they automate, they start processing the steps to get to that goal. So you know, and so how I look at that is that they've got this one clear, big thing that they're focused on, and they just move towards it. Whereas a lot of the times, I see when people are not as focused, they, they almost have too many different goals, or too many different ideas happening at the same time. So they can never really get traction on one single thing. And then it just, it causes a lot of frustration, and almost is jumping from one thing to the next. Because they just they don't have that one thing that they can stay focused on for a specific period of time.

What are the common hangups people have as you have coach them?

I would say that one of the main ones is sort of perfectionism. It can be a challenge when we're developing products for others, that we want them to be perfect. We want for the client to absolutely love what we are putting out there. And sometimes what that results in is that we just spend way too much time trying to make this masterpiece, in a sense.

So how do you get past that?

I think having feedback like that is very important. That’s really key. Otherwise you simply are relying on your own throughts. That’s why I use meditation and visualization.

Can you share some steps where people can get started with visualization or meditation?

Yeah, absolutely. I visualize the the main, the biggest thing that I want to happen that day, in a sense, and what that does is that kind of gives me clarity, you know, for the for the entire day. I highly recommend the book Psycho Cybernetics. It really helped me out quite a bit in terms of clarity and focus.

Thanks so much for taking the time to chat with me Andrew. I know I got a lot out of this conversation. As far as the readers, I hope you too got something out of my chat with Andrew. Have you ever practiced meditation or visualization?
