A woman has been accused of kidnapping a 2-year-old baby from a Narrows church nursery earlier this month. She will not be getting out on bond, and it appears that she was planning to grab another toddler.

As The Roanoke Times reported, after hearing presentations from Nancy Renee Fridley’s defense and prosecutors on Thursday, Judge Robert Viar declined to set a bond for the suspect.

The 44-year-old woman was arrested on Friday, May 4. The deputies revealed the suspect had abducted the baby from the nursery at Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead two days before.

What are the details?

The authorities investigated the child’s disappearance, and they eventually came to a mobile home that belonged to the suspect. The child was found there. He had all his hair cut off. The little boy was evaluated by EMTs on the scene and after that he was returned to his parents by the authorities.

Fridley was charged with one count of abduction and one count of felony child endangerment. Her boyfriend Bobby Lee Taylor was also charged with a single count of abduction, as WFXR Fox revealed.

Investigators did not uncover any clear link between Noah, his family and the suspects. It is believed that the baby was chosen randomly and that it was all part of a scheme to get more children. The baby was not in any danger of being given to someone else.

Prowling around churches

The authorities also revealed that Fridley was seen at several churches in Narrows the morning Noah was kidnapped. She was specifically seen at New Valley Fellowship Church and Mountain View Ministries, both located in Narrows.

When she didn’t have any luck and was turned away from those two churches, the suspect allegedly set her sights on Riverview Baptist, where she found Noah.

Prosecutor said in court that she introduced Noah to her neighbors as Bobby Jr. She pretended the boy was her boyfriend’s son, according to Fox News.

The deputies also believe that Fridley was intending to get another child after Noah because a onesie too small for Noah was found while searching her home.

There were also small beds set up for children in the mobile home plus sippy cups, which makes the Narrows incident even more disturbing.
