Devon Kennard, known for his position as linebacker for the Arizona Cardinals, will be launching his new book club challenge this Tuesday, June 1st.

The book on the list for this year is Atomic Habits by James Clear.

"This is one I think will positively impact all of our lives," Kennard said in an Instagram Post.

Kennard has been running reading challenges since 2017, using Facebook and Instagram to encourage and engage participants.

For his first challenge, aimed kids and teens, Kennard chose two well-known books: To Kill A Mockingbird and The Alchemist. As it says on his website, Reading with DK, "Devon not only wanted kids to read the books but internalize the lessons within the books."

But this year, the focus is on self-improvement for adults and teens.

During the challenges, Kennard regularly posts questions on his Instagram and Facebook accounts directing readers to think about the impact the book's lessons have on their personal lives and how they can apply them.

There's no official age limit for the book club, but due to the nonfiction adult book selection, it's mostly teens and adults signing up. You don't even need to be an Arizona Cardinal fan.

"I started the reading club to inspire our future leaders to continue reading, discover there is a lot to be gained from it and realize that it’s cool,” said Kennard.

His book choice, Atomic Habits: An Easy and Proven Way to Build Good Habits and Break Bad Ones is a practical book about the power of small changes.

With the idea of getting just 1% better each day, James Clear's advice is very manageable.

To become a successful althete you can be sure Kennard has a lot of experience tweaking his habits into positive ones. He often speaks about financial habits and offers solid advice to new professional athletes around managing their spending. It's clear Kennard has mastered healthy habits in many areas of his life.

"Resist temptation to go ball out immediately, instead focus on your craft and spend minimally," he says in one post.
