One of the things that New York City is known for is their amazing shopping. I know that I always used to love coming to NYC as a kid and walking along 5th Ave - window shopping of course because I was a kid with no money!. And if you are anything like me, you also love to shop, and what better place to shop than New York City. However, if you are getting bored of the same old shopping on the main drag of 5th Ave - I’ve got some great less well known shopping spots in the city.

Here are the best places to go shopping in the city other than 5th Ave:

Williamsburg, Brooklyn

The first underrated shopping area is in Brooklyn. I know in recent years, Brooklyn, in particular Williamsburg, has become a very popular and trendy neighborhood in the city, and they’ve got some great shopping there too! The more well known shopping area in Williamsburg is on Bedford Ave. Here you’ll find super cool vintage yet trendy and hip stores, perfect to get that “cool brooklyn hipster” aesthetic. Lesser known in Williamsburg is Grand St which has some more great boutiques that are super cool and trendy!

Soho, Manhattan

Next up is Soho. Soho is one of my favorite places to shop because it’s such a nice area, and way less touristy than the shops on 5th Ave. I love spending time in Soho whether I am going shopping or just hanging out with friends, going out to eat, whatever - Soho is a great neighborhood in the city! One of the things I love about Soho is that all your favorite ready to wear, high street shops are there and there’s tons of designer shops and boutiques around as well. I love having the options to shop high end and low end in one place, so Soho is perfect!

Chinatown, Manhattan

And my last underrated shopping spot in NYC is Chinatown. Now I know that normally, most people probably don’t think of Chinatown when they think of New York City shopping neighborhoods, but Chinatown is actually a great place to find some amazing deals in the city. Chinatown is great because there are tons of flea markets, bargain shops, and street vendors. Now I wouldn’t go into Chinatown expecting to find real designer items, rather knock-offs and bargain products - which if you are on a budget is so great!

I hope you guys like these ideas of new and different areas to shop in NYC. Let me know in the comments what your favorite shopping neighborhoods in the city are!
