The Houston Texans, the NFL Foundation, and Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) are planning to donate $450,000 to overhaul the athletic field at Jack Yates High School. The program aims to address the lack of safe, clean, and public athletic fields in Third Ward Houston.

"The Houston Texans are proud to work with our partners to support the renovation of the Jack Yates High School Athletic Field," said Texans Chairman and CEO Cal McNair, hoping that the pitch will boost the love for sports among youths in Third Ward and produce more the next generation of athletes and leaders.

"We are grateful to be a part of this project and believe it will become an integral pillar of the community for decades to come," McNair added.

The Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation-NRG Park, Harris County Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis, Hellas Construction, Inc., and the Houston Texans said they would also be donating the Texans' artificial playing surface from NRG Stadium, worth $1,250,000, to the high school.

This year, the school has received a $250,000 grant from the NFL, the Texans, and LISC to support the installation of a turf field at Yates High School. The Texans will also be donating an extra $200,000 field grant through the NFL Foundation to boost the project.

The donation's check will be presented during a program on Friday, May 28 at 3:00 p.m, with opening statements from public officials and supporters. To donate to this project through Change Happens, visit https://www.changehappenstx.org/jack-yates-athletic.
