A group of 8 people, including a 37-year-old parent, reportedly stormed into a Greensboro high school to assault a 14-year-old-girl right in the middle of a class. The whole incident was filmed by a witness.

How did it all happen?

Officers from the Guilford County Sheriff's Office revealed that the attack happened on Tuesday morning at about 9:45 a.m. A group of 6 students, accompanied by an 18-year-old and a 37-year-old parent, entered a classroom at Southern Guilford High School without permission and started assaulting the girl, WGHP-TV, reports.

The authorities believe the attack was fueled by an earlier argument that took place on Monday at a bus stop. The Tuesday assault has been classified as a “revenge effort”, which means that one of the students got together a group of friends and they planned to assault the girl the next day.

The video of the incident was obtained by WGHP-TV. Footage shows the group surrounding the 14-year-old girl and assaulting her for several seconds.

The good news is that the victim reportedly only had minor injuries to her face. Faculty, staff, and a school resource officer all jumped in to help her.

Who were the attackers?

Three of the students who took part in the assault are enrolled at Southern Guilford High School where the attack happened. The other three go to other schools in the same area.

The shocking thing is that one of the student’s parents joined in the assault as well.

“Yes, one of the students did show up with their parent — their mother came. So, she participated not only there just for support for her student, but actually, participated in the assault as well,” Captain Brian Hall, the school's resource officer, said for WFMY-TV.
“That was a deeply disturbing part for us. You look at parents as the ones who are supposed to be giving the kid guidance as to how to handle these types of things, not encouraging it ... and in this case — a parent that went too far and participated with their child in clearly criminal behavior.”

According to Hall, the group entered the building by asking one of the high school students to hold the door open for them to come in. After that they headed straight upstairs to the classroom where the victim had her class.

The group tried to escape after the assault and did get out of the school building, but they were stopped in the parking lot.

The sheriff's office reportedly plans to file charges of misdemeanor assault and first-degree trespassing against the assailants.

WGHP-TV also pointed out that “they may be accused of inciting a riot,” after the Greensboro incident.
