(SAN FRANCISCO) A man allegedly connected to a shootout in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood last month faces aggravated assault and weapons charges.
The shooting took place on April 25 on the 100 block of Hyde Street around 5:20 p.m. Officers responded and found multiple shell casings of different calibers and vehicles damaged by bullets at the scene.
Witnesses described several suspects were possibly in a physical altercation prior to the shootout. Using surveillance video, investigators saw a confrontation between several people had escalated into gunfire, according to a news release.
Police on Thursday identified 32-year-old Darnell Houston of Pittsburg as a suspect. Houston is a convicted felon.
Houston was arrested on May 18 in Berkeley on 2600 Bancroft Way. A search warrant was also executed to his home in Pittsburg, where police uncovered two firearms, including an unlicensed and untraceable “ghost gun,” along with ammunition.
Houston was booked into San Francisco County Jail. His court date was not immediately available at this time.
