(ATLANTA, Ga.) Normalcy continues to be on the horizon as many live events make their way back.

So, what’s next to break away from the screens and confinement of all things virtual? Dragon Con!

The popular convention is returning to an in-person gathering this September and will flood the city with head-turning costumes and panels.

Since 1987, the event has celebrated all things sci-fi, fantasy and comics. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dragon Con operated online last year.

This year, the event will take place in downtown Atlanta from Sept. 2 through Sept. 6 with plenty of opportunities to see characters like X-Men, Wookies, Stranger Things and other fun pop culture references.

If you don’t want to be in the hustle and bustle of the event, there will be a virtual live stream option.

In-person memberships are currently on sale for $115 through June 18. The price increases to $125 from June 19-July 18 and then to $140, which will be in effect through the start of the show.

Currently, specific details about the event are still being worked out and a statement on the website said, “Dragon Con will most likely not look like it has in the past. What that means exactly, we aren’t sure.”

While details are still being worked out, a few acts have been booked and announced including actors Eddie McClintock (“Warehouse 13,” “Bones”), Garrett Wang (“Star Trek: Voyager”), illustrator Todd Lockwood (Dungeons & Dragons”) and voice actor Dino Andrade (“New Looney Tunes.”)

While returning to an in-person event, the convention is steadily encouraging the COVID-19 vaccine. In a public statement, organizers said, “Science is amazing and we believe strongly in it and encourage everyone who can take the step and protect themselves.”
