Last Friday night, my husband suggested we check out a taco truck his co-worker recommended. We were in store for a big treat!
There are many taco trucks in our area. However, this one now has a soft spot in my heart for the beautiful flavors of their food. You will not be disappointed if you visit!
I love how colorful, clean, and well-organized this truck is.
I could tell how popular they are by the steady stream of customers lining up to order food.
They have a regular menu, and they also offer specials on a colorful menu by the ordering window. Our saving grace is that they have hamburgers on their menu. Our son loves tamales and ground beef tacos, but those are not usually at taco trucks.
This time we were able to order a plain burger with bacon for him.
Sometimes I think that food trucks have too many options. This truck had enough choices to satisfy everyone.
My husband and I ordered the al pastor tacos, the queso-birria tacos with consomme, and their milanesa torta.
We have tried al pastor tacos at many places, but these were extremely flavorful. I love the big chunks of pineapple grilled along with the meat. The fresh touch of a slice of lime and radishes alongside makes it a beautiful dish to enjoy.
One of their specials was a chicken milanesa torta. Milanesa is like a very thin chicken cutlet that is breaded and fried to perfection. Then, they top the sandwich with fresh tomatoes, avocado, lettuce, and more. These tortas are huge, and we ended up getting about three meals out of this one. It was delicious, fresh, and flavorful!
Next, we ordered four queso birria tacos. Birria is a kind of stewed, tender meat that is served in a variety of dishes in Mexico. There, it is often made with goat meat. Here in the U.S., most often beef is used as in this case. Birria tacos are becoming a trend in Hillsboro and Beaverton because they are tender and delicious!
These were exceptional queso birria tacos. They were crunchy on the outside, even when getting them for take-out from Mister Tacos. They had amazing flavor. However, the most amazing part was the consomme that is served with the tacos. It is customary to dip bits of your taco into the consomme much like a French dip sandwich. This consomme was the most flavorful one we have ever tried! Run-on down and try some!
At Mister Tacos they also serve delicious house-made drinks such as horchata, strawberry limeade, and more. Check their specials board for the latest flavors and offerings. We ordered both their horchata (a rice and cinnamon drink) and their strawberry limeade which were big hits!
After you order your food, you can look at their drink, snack, and candy offerings on their truck. They offer various Mexican sodas, coconut water, crunchy bags of savory snacks, and candies. It is like a tiny grocery store inside the food truck.
Do not forget to get a selection of salsas to go with your meal. There is a refrigerated compartment just below the ordering window with clean squeeze bottles full of salsa. You can fill small containers with your choices.
If you want to eat your food right away, there are two clean and bright picnic tables under a beautiful covered awning near the taco truck. There were various families taking advantage of a sunny evening eating their food together here.
