The bizarre and peculiar mind of a well-known prankster and ceramist Clayton Bailey can now be explored by the public in the opening of World of Wonders, presented by Curated Storefront, on Thursday, May 27, at the Akron Savings & Loan Building on the corner of Street Main and Bowery.

“This exhibit is the largest collection of Bailey’s artwork anywhere in the world,” said Curated Storefront founder Rick Rogers. “We’re pleased to make it free to the public to help celebrate the continued revitalization of downtown Akron. This exhibit brings everyone inside for a change, where art lovers can enjoy a more immersive experience in the wonderful world of Clayton Bailey.”

Rogers' organization has played a main role in making the downtown livelier by altering empty, dull storefronts into a lively art display since 2016. They aim to create engaging, creative, and safe spaces for downtown visitors.

The event will present performances by several musicians like local favorite Theron Brown (who played jazz pianist Herbie Hancock in the movie Miles Ahead, starring Don Cheadle) and several other guest musicians who may play Bailey's jaw harps.

The opening event is free for the public from 5 pm-10 pm and refreshments will be available for purchase. If visitors can't make it to the grand opening, World of Wonders will still be open for them on Friday, May 28, and Saturday, May 29 from 12-7 p.m.

Visitors can also buy VIP tickets for $100 if they want their name to be permanently recognized as the event's supporter in the gallery. The ticket holder will receive benefits such as access to the VIP lounge with foods and drinks, a single free item from the printing press, front row to the live music, view of an extra exhibit, a chance to meet Garth Johnson, and an opportunity to interact with Clayton's cork shooter.
