Cleveland's annual Fourth of July celebration, Light Up the Lake, has been confirmed to return this year with Downtown Cleveland Alliance (DCA), the City of Cleveland and FirstEnergy as its host.

The yearly event became a staple for the Independence Day weekend. Last year's fireworks show was postponed to September 19 and eventually canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The free, family-friendly event will commence at dusk over Lake Erie from the Port of Cleveland’s Dock 20.

The organizers invite residents and visitors to watch the show from various viewing areas in and around Downtown Cleveland. The fireworks viewing areas include:

- Flats West Bank: Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica Boardwalk, Music Box Supper Club, Shooters on the Water, Superior Viaduct, Wendy Park and Whiskey Island

- Flats East Bank: Flats East Bank Boardwalk, Settlers Landing, Margaritaville, Punch Bowl Social Rooftop, Lago Veranda and other Flats East Bank restaurants

- North Coast Harbor: Voinovich Bicentennial Park, Edgewater Beach and Kirtland Park

Attendees are encouraged to celebrate the event safely with their loved ones. The city will also allow attendees to host a picnic dinner to enjoy the evening.

Clevelanders on social media are excited about the news. Many users tagged their friends and relatives to share the joyous announcement. Residents from other parts of the US chimed in and commented that their city needs to do the same.

The fireworks begin from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. For more information regarding the Light Up the Lake event, you can visit https://www.downtowncleveland.com/events/lightuplake.
