Museums can be a muse for some people and a bore for others, but did you know that they are not just about science and arts? There are a lot of museums that offer different— even bizarre— exhibitions that you may not even know exist. Preserving more than just the local history, here are five of those unique museums you can only find in Cleveland.

1. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Displaying the vigor of rock 'n' roll, the museum first opened its doors in 1995 to engage, teach, and inspire people. Visitors can see the long history of rock 'n' roll musicians and other influential figures in the genre from across the globe.

Judging from its exterior alone, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame already looks compelling with its iconic all-glass pyramid building and feisty 'Long Live Rock' sign. It is a family-friendly place for people from all generations, as well as a fabulous Instagrammable spot, even for non-fans of the genre.

Location: 1100 E 9th St, Cleveland, OH 44114

This is a must-visit for fans of the 1983 film 'A Christmas Story.' In this actual house where the movie was shot, you can find interactive original properties, costumes, memorabilia, behind-the-scenes photos, and souvenirs. You can even request a permit for an overnight stay to relive the whole movie!

A tour guide is ready to walk you through the history and fun facts of both the house and the movie. An overall fun, interactive, and informative museum that allows you to relive your childhood memories.

The legendary submarine that sank more than 12 enemy vessels in WWII is open to the public. Located in Ohio's North Coast Harbour, the actual ship is docked just right there.

This memorial is only a block away from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. You can guide yourself and use the trove of information provided by the tapes and writings, or you can ask one of the retired veterans to escort you. Mind the narrow gap and stairs, though, it's a real submarine!

Situated near the Submarine Memorial, you can visit a retired Great Lakes bulk freighter that has been turned into a whole exhibition spot. The 600-foot steamship was once the grandest in Cleveland. It used to carry 14,000 tons of iron ore from Lake Superior to Lake Erie.

You can peek into the bunk rooms, dining room, and even the boilers in the engine room. Remember to always check their website for opening hours before you visit as they sometimes close the venue randomly.
