Are you a foodie planning a trip to Arizona? If yes, look no further, you have found the perfect guide! In this article, we will show you some of the most bizarre dishes you can find in the Copper State, from Phoenix to Jerome, from Sedona to Tucson.

On the menu for you, we have dinner in a cave, snacks with ghosts, and dishes that blend American cuisine with Chinese and Mexican ones. Ready for a gastronomical adventure? Let’s go!

1. Haunted Snacks With Ghosts - Jerome, AZ

How would you feel if someone told you that you can party with ghosts in Arizona? Scary, right? Downtown Arizona has a funky restaurant where guests can learn about the history of the haunted tower while biting on some delicious snacks.

If you get scared easily, we advise you to stay away as it could be dangerous for you. Moreover, according to most visitors, the tower is full of haunting stories. Many people have witnessed slamming doors, flying food, and weird voices while enjoying their top-notch burgers. But don’t you think this would be a great adventure on your bucket list?

2. Eating Like Cavemen - Sedona, AZ

If the experience above pleased you, then we have something even crazier for you. Imagine sitting in a cave just like people did 2000 years ago but in an established and well-built city. Interesting, right? Well, Sedona has a restaurant with an infrastructure inspired by a dark and cozy cave.

Quite in harmony with its concept, this cafe offers Paleo diet dishes. You can book your visit to the Rainforest Cafe online here.

3. Phoenix’s Barrio Cafe — Phoenix, AZ

Arizona is rich in great Mexican dishes due to the state’s proximity with Mexico, both geographically and culturally. In Phoenix, there is a café. Phoenix’s Barrio, that offers a dish you need to taste at least once in your life.

“Cochinita Pibil” is the dish to fulfill your cravings for delicious meat. The pork ribs are marinated and slowly roasted, creating a unique taste that will please even the most demanding meat lovers. For dessert, we recommend a delicious American-Indian funnel cake.

You can check the whole menu on the cafe’s website.

4. Sonoran Hot Dog — Tucson, Phoenix, Southern AZ

You can never go wrong with hot dogs, right?

But in southern Arizona, namely in Tucson and Phoenix, you can find a different kind of hot dog, one you will want to try. The “Sonoran Hot Dog” gets its name from the Mexican state of Sonora, where it originated, which is just south of the border between Arizona and Mexico.

The difference between a common hot dog and the Sonoran one is that this is wrapped in bacon and grilled, served on a “bolillo” style bun, and topped with pinto beans, amongst other toppings, such as sauces.

You can try some of the best Sonoran hot dogs in the state in Moreno’s Mexican Grill or Nogales Hot Dogs.

5. Dragon Dumpling Burgers — Phoenix, AZ

Do you love trying new foods? If yes, there is a place in downtown Phoenix that you absolutely can not miss, Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour

Chef Bob Tam created an iconic dish, with a curious name: dragon dumpling burger. It is a fusion of an American burger with a pork bun traditional from Shanghai, called “sheng jian bao” and made with a thick dough wrapped around seasoned pork and gelatin. This is then pan-fried and covered with sesame seeds. Curious? The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday and, besides the interesting food, it serves some of the best cocktails in the city.
